How to upgrade to a new version

INTRODUCTION

AC300D83

The information in this article applies to:
  • All versions of BlackMoon FTP Server

SUMMARY

To upgrade the ftp server to a new version, perform an uninstall of the old version and backup your blackmoon.mdb file when prompted.

After installing the new version, MAKE SURE THE FTP SERVER SERVICE IS STOPPED AND THE GUI IS NOT RUNNING. Replace the new blackmoon.mdb with your backup copy before you start the ftp server.

DO NOT replace the blackmoon.mdb file if the ftp server is running or it might get corrupted

MORE INFORMATION

If you install a new version without uninstalling the previous version, the installer will automatically uninstall for you. Please make sure the service manager is closed since it can prevent the service from being deleted until it is closed.

For SQL server databases, you should backup the config.xml file too since it contains the connection string. A backup of the blackmoon.mdb file is not needed if you are using an SQL server database.
